In an effort to deal with the rising cost of petroleum and the CO2 emissions problem, Wipf designed a new product made with between 80% to 97% biological materials, while retaining full barrier-forming properties. The composite material is made up of a layer of paper, a barrier layer and a bioplastic layer.
The bag was developed using a special grade of Mater-Bi®, the bioplastic developed by Novamont, which is naturally biodegradable and compostable in compliance with Italian regulation UNI10785. The Wipf bag is suitable for dry or slightly damp foodstuffs (coffee, tea, breakfast cereals, biscuits, etc.), but also for dry animal food or for non-food applications.
