The global packaging machinery market is forecast to reach 42.2 billion by 2021 (+2,8%/2016) with leading machine groups being filling and dosing (20.7%) and labeling, decorating and coding (12.6%). Those to grow the fastest to 2021 are horizontal form, fill and seal (+3.2%), fill and seal (+3.1%) and labeling, decorating and coding (+3.0%). The food sector is the largest driving the global market (40%), beverage (30%), other sectors (30%) and pharmaceutical (4.1 percent, fastest growing). As automation importance and use increases, especially in warehousing, collaborative robots (cobots), artificial intelligence and big data can be three distinct drivers of investment and performance, particularly in the packaging sector.
