New developments for metal packaging

At Metpack 2026, Henkel presented several innovations aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of metal packaging production.

Among them is Bonderite E-CO, an intelligent control system for the can pretreatment stage that provides real-time data to optimize line stability. It is complemented by the new CanLine audit application, designed to accelerate fault detection and enable preventive actions. Henkel also introduced new water-based Darex sealants, including Darex WBC 4020 for beverage cans and Darex WBC 833 for food cans, developed to improve production efficiency while reducing the carbon footprint. Finally, the company highlighted more resource-efficient surface treatment solutions, such as the Bonderite L-FM 831 lubricant and the Bonderite C-IC 72000 low-temperature cleaner, effective from 43°C instead of the usual 60–70°C, helping to reduce water and energy consumption as well as CO2 emissions.
