The company diverts plastic waste from landfills, locally converts it into high-quality PCR (Post Consumer Recyclates), sold as substitutes for imported virgin plastics, thereby “closing the loop” of plastic waste. This investment – the first of its kind on the continent – is expected to recover approximately 90 kilotons (kt) of plastic waste over four years recycled into new packaging applications. Mr. Green Africa plans to expand its operations and capabilities in Kenya, where it is headquartered, as well as other countries in Africa. In addition, the will with Dow is to co-develop more traceable, fair and high-quality post-consumer recycling (PCR) to produce new flexible plastic packaging.
