Robots: China leads post-pandemic recovery

News 🇬🇧

posted Tuesday 31 August 2021

While international robot installations fell by 2% in 2020, a study published by the International Federation of Robotics using preliminary World Robotics data claims that China remained on the rise in industrial robot sales (+19%).

This growth in the Chinese market is also having a positive impact on suppliers, with 123,000 robots shipped from abroad. Although Japanese suppliers hold a dominant market share, in China, suppliers shipped 44,000 products, an increase in exports of 8% compared to 2019. « The outlook for the robotics industry is optimistic. In China, where the coronavirus lockout came into effect for the first time, the robotics industry started to recover already in 2020. A total of 167,000 industrial robots have been shipped, » comments Milton Guerry, President of the International Federation of Robotics. As for the IFR’s global robotics outlook: in Europe and North America applications are flourishing, pointing to future growth in the robotics industry in 2021, a major tool for achieving a possible reduction in carbon footprint and climate neutrality among companies.
