UNITED KINGDOM: Hijacking handwash bottles to eliminate waste

News 🇬🇧

posted Wednesday 30 September 2020

The Welsh start-up Splosh, created in 2012, is no shortage of ideas for removing plastic waste from landfills.

Its latest initiative aims to divert one billion household bottles from mainstream brands by encouraging their reuse y consumers through delivering refill bags of concentrated solutions straight to the home by post. Consumers just have to wash their bottle, stick the Splosh label, follow the instructions, fill with the refill and dilute with water. The innovative service includes pouches, which are recycled and made into useful products when returned by customers. This circular approach makes Splosh the only company that cuts plastic waste from household bottle use to zero. The first concentrated refills developed by Splosh have so far been made for shower gel, hand washing and cleaning products for toilet bowls.
