The winner has been announced: Ms Elisa Arikan, for her paper on \u201cStructural adhesive bonding of polymers &#8211; Surface characteristics and adhesion mechanism\u201d. As a Research Associate, her field of research is \u2018Technological, economic and ecological evaluation and optimisation of manufacturing process chains as well as the development of innovative manufacturing strategies for the production of fibre-reinforced composite structures\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release, Kristel Ons, FEICA\u2019s Secretary General, stated that FEICA continues to support the adhesives and sealants industry by encouraging further innovations in the sector. \u201cMany of this year\u2019s entries demonstrate how important innovations are to our increasingly circular economy. Ms Arikan\u2019 paper demonstrates that the use of structural adhesive bonding offers large weight saving potential compared to conventional joining methods\u201d said Ms Ons.
