A quelques mois de sa mise en route op\u00e9rationnelle, le groupe ouvre ses portes pour une visite guid\u00e9e unique du chantier.<\/p>\n<p>Pour p\u00e9n\u00e9trer sur Brightlands Chemelot de Geleen aux Pays-Bas, il faut montrer patte blanche. Se plier aux r\u00e8gles de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et accepter d\u2019\u00eatre accompagn\u00e9 par une voiture de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 tout au long de la visite. Car le site n\u2019accueille pas seulement la nouvelle entit\u00e9 de recyclage chimique du groupe Sabic mais tout un microcosme industriel strat\u00e9gique, r\u00e9unissant 107 soci\u00e9t\u00e9s dont des grands noms de la chimie et du biom\u00e9dical (Lonza, BASF, DSM, Bayer Healthcare, Sappi, etc.) ainsi qu\u2019un campus universitaire de plus de 1000 \u00e9tudiants. Au sein de cette plateforme d\u2019excellence, Sabic \u2013 le plus gros employeur du site \u2013 y a install\u00e9 depuis plusieurs d\u00e9cennies deux de ses vapocraqueurs aliment\u00e9s en naphta, des unit\u00e9s pilotes de r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de PEBD, PEHD et PP ainsi que ses laboratoires de recherche. En compl\u00e9ment, la joint-venture SPEAR (Sabic Plastic Energy Advanced Recycling BV) constitu\u00e9e \u00e0 50\/50 avec le groupe Plastic Energy a lanc\u00e9 la construction d\u2019une unit\u00e9 de pointe dans la production de polym\u00e8res circulaires certifi\u00e9s, partie int\u00e9grante du portefeuille Trucircle\u2122 de chimiste, commercialis\u00e9s depuis 2019. Soutenu par une subvention du minist\u00e8re n\u00e9erlandais des affaires \u00e9conomiques, l\u2019investissement \u2013 dont le montant reste non communiqu\u00e9* \u2013 s\u2019inscrit dans un programme d\u2019\u00e9conomie circulaire. \u00abLe recyclage chimique est, par essence, une voie compl\u00e9mentaire au recyclage m\u00e9canique. Il permet de traiter les plastiques de mauvaise qualit\u00e9, souill\u00e9s ou mal tri\u00e9s, et donc non recycl\u00e9s, qui finissent en temps normal incin\u00e9r\u00e9s\u00bb, explique Thomas Granier, responsable commercial de Sabic France.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un projet en faveur de polym\u00e8res circulaires<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.emballagedigest.fr\/dotclear\/images\/2022\/REVUE\/av\/04_22_focus2.jpg\" alt=\"Texte Alternatif\" style=\"float:right; margin: 0 0 1em 1em;\" \/>Implant\u00e9e sur le site de Chemelot qui s\u2019\u00e9tend sur 800 hectares, l\u2019usine, qui sera op\u00e9rationnelle au second semestre 2022, aura une capacit\u00e9 de traitement de 20 000 tonnes de d\u00e9chets plastique par an. A partir de ces entrants sourc\u00e9s localement, une mont\u00e9e en temp\u00e9rature comprise entre 450 et 600\u00b0C dans un milieu d\u00e9pourvu d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne permet de casser les polym\u00e8res pr\u00e9sents afin d\u2019obtenir une huile de pyrolyse color\u00e9e. Purifi\u00e9e, ce tacoil \u2013 compos\u00e9 d\u2019un m\u00e9lange de monom\u00e8res \u2013 sera \u00e0 nouveau polym\u00e9ris\u00e9 pour obtenir du propyl\u00e8ne et de l\u2019\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne. Fabriqu\u00e9e avec un taux de rendement de 60 \u00e0 80%, l\u2019huile de pyrolyse viendra alimenter l\u2019un des vapocraqueurs de Sabic \u00e0 Geleen d\u2019une capacit\u00e9 de production annuelle de 675 kT. \u00abD\u2019ici la fin de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, l\u2019huile de pyrolyse sera ajout\u00e9e \u00e0 hauteur de 2% \u00e0 une portion minime en bionaphta renouvelable, issu des huiles de cuisson, pour compl\u00e9ter les ressources classiquement utilis\u00e9es en naphta fossile\u00bb, annonce Marc Jamin, directeur des affaires publiques de Sabic Europe. Par une approche \u00abMass Balance\u00bb, les polym\u00e8res PE et PP ainsi synth\u00e9tis\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de ce flux entrant seront certifi\u00e9s circulaires pour leurs utilisateurs. La demande est telle que le chimiste estime qu\u2019il faudra multiplier les capacit\u00e9s de traitement par dix pour anticiper les futurs besoins de la fili\u00e8re packaging. Sabic ne cache pas d\u00e9j\u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 la construction de futures unit\u00e9s de recyclage avanc\u00e9, la surface de Chemelot le lui permettant ais\u00e9ment. Selon Plastics Europe, la capacit\u00e9 de traitement du recyclage chimique estim\u00e9 \u00e0 1,2 MT de d\u00e9chets plastiques en 2025 devrait atteindre en 2030 les 3,4 MT, \u00abun niveau qui commence \u00e0 \u00eatre significatif face aux 4 \u00e0 5 MT de plastiques recycl\u00e9s obtenus par recyclage m\u00e9canique\u00bb, commente Herv\u00e9 Millet, directeur climat et production de l\u2019association Plastics Europe. <\/p>\n<p><em>Extrait de la revue n\u00b0 667 &#8211; Avril 2022.
