Une bact\u00e9rie serait capable de transformer les d\u00e9chets plastiques du quotidien en analg\u00e9sique, r\u00e9v\u00e8le une \u00e9tude men\u00e9e par l\u2019Universit\u00e9 d\u2019Edimbourg. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 mis au point ne produit pratiquement aucune \u00e9mission de carbone et serait donc plus durable que la production actuelle du m\u00e9dicament, affirment les chercheurs.\u00a0En effet, le parac\u00e9tamol est traditionnellement fabriqu\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de r\u00e9serves de combustibles fossiles, notamment de p\u00e9trole brut. Cette avanc\u00e9e r\u00e9pond au besoin urgent de recycler le PET, r\u00e9sine la plus commun\u00e9ment utilis\u00e9e dans les biens de consommation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour y rem\u00e9dier, une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques du laboratoire Wallace de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00c9dimbourg a utilis\u00e9 la bact\u00e9rie E. coli g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement reprogramm\u00e9e pour transformer une mol\u00e9cule d\u00e9riv\u00e9e du PET connue sous le nom d\u2019acide t\u00e9r\u00e9phtalique en ingr\u00e9dient actif du parac\u00e9tamol. Les chercheurs ont utilis\u00e9 un processus de fermentation, similaire \u00e0 celui utilis\u00e9 dans le brassage de la bi\u00e8re, pour acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la conversion des d\u00e9chets PET industriels en parac\u00e9tamol en moins de 24 heures.\u00a0La nouvelle technique a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante et n\u2019a g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 pratiquement aucune \u00e9mission de carbone, prouvant que le parac\u00e9tamol peut \u00eatre produit de mani\u00e8re durable.\u00a0D\u2019autres d\u00e9veloppements sont n\u00e9cessaires avant qu\u2019il puisse \u00eatre produit \u00e0 des niveaux commerciaux, indique l\u2019\u00e9quipe. Environ 90% du produit fabriqu\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de la r\u00e9action de l\u2019acide t\u00e9r\u00e9phtalique avec E. coli g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement reprogramm\u00e9 \u00e9tait du parac\u00e9tamol.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La recherche, publi\u00e9e dans Nature Chemistry, a \u00e9t\u00e9 financ\u00e9e par une bourse EPSRC CASE et la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 biopharmaceutique AstraZeneca, soutenue par Edinburgh Innovations (EI), le service de commercialisation de l\u2019Universit\u00e9.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La production de parac\u00e9tamol pourrait bient\u00f4t connaitre un nouveau tournant.
