Tinplate cans: nutritional and environmental allies for canned tomatoes

A study conducted by Tentamus Chelab for thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, Germany’s only tinplate producer, reveals that canned tomatoes contain more vitamins and minerals than fresh ones.
Protected from air and light, they better preserve their nutrients and offer greater lycopene bioavailability. Beyond their nutritional benefits, tinplate cans combine near-total recyclability (82% in Europe), long shelf life, and high industrial efficiency (up to 500 fillings per minute) helping reduce food waste and support more sustainable production.
